The scheme at Roman Fields is the first residential phase of a masterplan which will provide over 1000 new homes for the area. This initial phase will provide 87 new homes ranging from 2 bedroom apartments to 2, 3 & 4 bedroom houses. The layout comprises a series of perimeter blocks which create well defined spaces that benefit from high levels of activity and natural surveillance. Entrance doors and large window openings create active edges to all properties with a clear distinction between public and private space. The development includes a sustainable urban drainage system comprising of a series of swales and balancing ponds and a local equipped area of play (LEAP) is also included which will provide high quality amenity for residents for this initial phase.

The main concept for the appearance of the proposed dwellings is to provide a contemporary solution that has a distinctive character with its own identity, however the proposed houses are designed to respect the surrounding context in terms of scale and materials. It is intended the scheme will establish a new character creating an attractive place in which to live.
