Codsall Swimming Pool

ClientSouth Staffordshire Council
Cost£0.2m

This modest project has had a large effect on a local authority leisure centre swimming pool constructed in the 1970’s. The pool was in need of refurbishment, with condensation problems, evidence of water ingress into the pool tank structure, stained and damaged pool promenade areas and excessive heating costs.

Repairs were undertaken to the pool tank and the promenade area was retiled. A new suspended ceiling was installed, which together with new pool hall lighting has transformed the appearance of the facility. Condensation problems were resolved with the installation of new thermally broken aluminium framed windows. A heat recovery system was specified to the pool hall heating system.

Careful planning was required to ensure that construction work could be completed in a short period when the adjacent High School was closed for the summer holiday.
